this is just a silly observation and little theory, dont take this seriously
Yeah, your assumptions are right in sense to the story.
They are not descendants but the monkey king himself split into 5 people
so i reread this, and in chapter 104, the father of the eastern dragon mentioned "monkey king" and im guessing that the one who has a pole is the monkey king which is sun wukong. And the recent chapters, pixiu pretty much mentioned that the monkey king really do have a descendant, and in the latest, one of the 5 monkeys show hints of it.
