didn't pearl boy have a happy ending though? i'm pretty sure it's strongly implied they both survived.

i think they did too but i don’t understand the obsession current authors have with pulling the most random endings out of their asses like the only story i can think of that did that WELL was Killing Stalking and that wasn’t even pulled out of it’s author’s ass it was a handcrafted, picked apart and beautifully constructed piece of shit.
I didn’t think there could be a shittier ending than Pearl Boy… this just took top place on the podium
