This is the dumbest misunderstanding ngl. Instead of having a conversation she just said vague petty things and made him leave without asking a single question. This kind of writing pisses me off, this could be resolved if she literally just said one sentence to him. Feels like manufactured drama for the sake of drama
The reason I wrote this comment was to point out that the misunderstanding would’ve made a lot more sense had it followed the novel. In the novel, according to what people wrote, the FL heard him say he doesn’t think he loves FL. Even if she had talked to him, at that point in the story, his definition of love was basically just wanting to be kind and gentle to someone. So he thought what he felt for her wasn’t love but rather greed. Even if she talked to him, she probably wouldn’t have understood that what he was feeling is love since he himself doesn’t even believe that. But since they didn’t follow the novel exactly, it fr just became the most dumb misunderstanding. Hope that makes sense.
I’m not sure if it’s just cuz the translation is a little iffy or what but I feel like that didn’t play out exactly how the novel had it play out (at least according to novel spoilers. I didn’t read the novel).
In the manhwa, they make it look like Jasmine only heard the part about him marrying her bc the princess wants him to. I think in the novel though, the part that upset her was him saying he doesn’t know if he loves Jasmine. Although he did say that in the manhwa as well, it’s not shown that that specific part is what she heard him say. Had that been shown, it would’ve make a lot more sense as to why she is so distraught.
Edit: Okay I reread ch 27 and 28 and I see now that I guess she thinks, based on what she overheard, that he only is with her because the prince (princess?) made a request. I could be wrong but someone said that in the novel she was upset because she heard him say he didn’t love her or something. I guess it’s just a slightly different detail but ultimately the outcome is misunderstandings ensuing.
