I actually really like this story - it falls right into my enemies to lovers sweet spot -where BOTH characters are behaving badly, but not irredeemably so. i HATE enemies to lovers shit that's just the girl being normal and the guy harassing/abusing her for No reason. I feel like this pair both give as good as they get and the power dynamic never feels too skewed
Everyone's trash talking the ml, but from his pov this lady did a mass murder and got away with it bc she was too powerful to prosecute (we the readers know they probably deserved it but he doesn't know that.) And his sister, who would presumably know the whole situation basically condemned her. I think ML is just as protective of his knights as FL is of her apprentices since he's trained them since they were young; and even if Gray sorta deserved to get force-choked, ml's first impulse was to save him, tho he is being a twat by refusing to admit any wrongdoing.
I quite like the FL since I love when the heroine gets to be the sexually aggressive one, and I like how she leans into her reputation as a villainess
