I honestly think it was either a sexism reason, author trying to do a BL ending with this tribal kid (which is fucking weird that’s a baby and a 9 year old), or they truly forgot that they originally made the child a girl and I truly hope it’s just negligence of the story and not the first two reasons I gave cuz that’d be fucked
