So i didn't watch the anime so I don't know where did it stops, and it has been ages since I read the novel so I can't remember everything in details.

Anyway, so after hua cheng "kidnapped" xl, lang qianqiu follow them seeking revenge, thinking that xl wanted to run. Long story short... Hc forces lqq to accompany him to some cave (i think it was a cave). Where was qi rong (xl's cousin). There hua cheng forces qi rong to confess that he is the real culprit behind the massacre, with the help of Xianle poeple. So the only person xl kill is his last bloodline trying to stop the massacre. There where lqq witness him thinking that he was the killer of his father. Xl keeps trying to convince lqq that he's the killer, while hua cheng won't let him because he wanted to defend xl and prove him right.
Not sure what happened after, but I think qi rong became lqq's nex target, while still holding some hatred towards xl because of the past.

Well yeah, you can say that wind master and earth master aren't in the best relationship rn, in fact they don't have any relationship anymore.

So yeah spoiler, these happened i guess in the 3rd book (whuch I enjoyed the most).

I don't remember exactly, but the wind master had a mission in some place and he gad to take xl and Pei ming and ofc the earth master. Hua cheng accompany xl, and through out their journey hc urges xl to not go with the wind master, which obv xl is very confused why, and decided to stay since somehow wind master is his first friend in such a long time.

Can't remember why, but they end up stuck in some island after comforting a storm. And they weren't able to get out unless they use/build coffins?. So while pei ming was building somes. Both wind and earth master and xl and hc goes ti some abandon place whuch they recognize as Black water clamaty's territory, who's one of the forth clamaties. They found a skeleton.
A bunch of things happen, but most importantly, they found wind master 's brother, water master.... More events, finally the "earth Master" kills the water master after confessing that he's he xuan the black water ghost, and he killed the og eart master and took his place so he can get close to water master ( him befreiending wind master wasn't in the plane) . And he forces water master to confess that he stole he xuan luck and gave it to his brother (originally wind master was destinated to die early). By doing that he xuan suffered bad luck that resulted in hum losing his job , and his mother and fiance dying unfairly death. So after he died he became a ghost seeking revenge.
Btw he xuan is usually very hungry due to him living only in poverty, that how he ended up stuck in debt after eating a lot from the food that hua cheng offered and couldn't pay him.
Hua cheng knew all along, and wanted to keep xl out of the trouble.
After that wind became a mere mortal, and he never conforted he xuan ever again mostly bc he became afraid of him.
Xl who witness all that, decided to not stop he xuan even if he could. Which I liked a lot, I mean xl isn't as naive as he was when he was younger. He understands that revenge is necessary and doesn't try to stop it by saying that "no killing is bad". Really shows his character development.


Writing all that really made me want to re-read the novel, btw i recommend you to read it it's very good, and it will help you understand some the events in donghua.

thank you so much for the effort~ I'm actually collecting the novel rn but since I literally Zone out if there are no illustrations, it's kinda hard for me to understand so thank you for this! Also a side comment, it sucked that wind master and "earth master" are not in good terms anymore. There were really good chemistries going on between the two, even if it was platonic. It also pains me that since wind master is now mortal, he could die way wayyyy sooner than the gang :(( I've yet to be very familiar with cultivation but I kinda picked up somewhere that once you become a master cultivator, your lifespan is much longer than a normal human albeit lesser than a god's. So im hoping he becomes one. Also wish that "offcam", he once again ascended so he could be with others

And I know how hard it can be to complete the whole novel, I remember how I struggled sm with especially since when I first read it my English wasn't that good so I couldn't understand half of the words.
And cultivation system isn't that complicated especially in the novel since the author make sure to simplify it.( Tgcf was my first cultivation novel, the first 50 chapter I read no knowing a thing about cultivation and thought it is just fantasy. I was confused the whole time lol)

And yeah, beefleaf (the ships between he xuan and wind master) is my favorite ship ever, in my little head they both happy and together, and the whole black water arc didn't happen at all.
