I kinda feel like Killian has always had a crush on Edith, but the author's control on him doesn't allow such a thing to proceed more than a crush. I think there was little detail that after Cliff and Lise got married at the end of the original novel, Killian was just alone? :(
I think it's worth theorizing about, because 13th Edith does act sly or flirt with him. Would he had been heartbroken after murdering his wife in the original story's ending?
