Oh my goodness. I have kept this on my reading list for so long and have always thought it was so much darker than its predecessor. Still it but it’s mixed with history and realistic part of living in Japan during that time. I have mixed feelings about it.
I felt a rollercoaster of emotions. Happy -> dejected -> hopeful? -> depressed -> shocked -> sad again -> happy finally.

I’m happy to see that he was able survive the war and come home and that they have a child together and can finally live their lives together without anything holding them back.
