i got absolutely destroyed at the mention of “happy together” it’s one of my favorite films and i don’t think that i will be able to watch it from now on without thinking about this story. i’m going to rewatch it now, just to feel that devastating heartbreak one more time. if you haven’t watched it yet - i dearly recommend it. here’s my favourite quote from the film, “Sometimes i think ears are more important. You “see” better with your ears. You can pretend to look happy, but your voice reveals the truth. If you listen closely, you understand.”

i’m not really sure, i can see the resemblance but both are unique in their own ways. give it a watch if you haven’t, you won’t be disappointed. wong kar-wai’s cinematography is breathtaking and his film easily get engraved in your memory.
