It’s not just with Carcel though. Ines is in fact a prickly person. She said unkind things to ALL the men she used to live with. Her personality is talked about in the novel to the point that her difficult traits are traced back to her father and mother. She says she’s a little mean like both of them. Carcel isn’t even exaggerating like most readers here seem to think. Ines is not a good relationship partner by any stretch of the imagination. That’s probably why author chose someone like Carcel for her because he’s tough skin, easy going and accepts her the way she is.
This is kinda sad like I love Ines but fir him to be happy that she's not yelling or throwing him out of the room is sad....like I know it's supposed to be funny bc of what character Carcel has but I hope really they have better relationship in the future and I think he derveres more
