    I think it possibly works like an iud (the things thats inserted into the uterus to prevent sperm from fertilising the ovum), its like a contraception.

    But instead of inside the uterus its used to block the hymen (entrance of the uterus) to prevent the sperm to enter the uterus.

    The hymen is the entrance of the vagina, but the uterus. You're probably thinking of the cervix.
