I mean, if you're bothered by it due to finding it racist there's no need to tbh. It's more likely to be nickname based on personality than his appearance. Not to mention, Japan is also East Asian (Not South East). And it's not like monkeys are associated with South East Asians in a mocking way, or at least I don't know of any way.
As a South East Asian myself, there's nothing really offensive to me.

well as a south east asian myself i do hate to break it to you but we are in fact associated with the term "monkeys" as a racist slur by east asian people matter of fact we are also viewed as 'dirty' and 'ghetto' as a general impression by alot of east asian ppl so i just find this 'coincedence' a little bothersome thats all

Is that so? I guess I'm lucky that I have never been experienced anything like that.
If you find it bothersome it's fine then.
I have become used to characters being nicknamed "monkey" in Japanese and Chinese mangas/novels, so that might be why I didn't find anything unusual.
Anyways, nice to meet you, fellow South East Asian (=・ω・=)
im sorry but i cant brush of the fact that a character that appears to be of south east asian appearance in this manga is being nicknamed "monkey", like am i rly the only one bothered by that...
