These people probably think 5 years apart is the maximum age to not be considered as pedophilia. Or worse even less like 3 years age gap.
Fr my mom and dad have a 6 year age gap and my uncle and his wife a bit more (I’m not sure of the age gap but it’s from 7-9) and that’s normal in my country so I don’t see the problem
Some people in this comment section (*not you) should read replies properly. Child betrothals were common in the Western society - heck ANY culture - during the middle ages. The setting for this story is obviously NOT modern and many royal families had child betrothals. And yes a 7 age gap, heck a 15 year age gap is NORMAL between consenting ADULTS in this day and age. Child betrothals NOW are not and shouldnt be condone but people are JUST not getting this point because they are foaming at the mouth.
Y'all think it's an age gap to make fuss about? Habibi come to India, all of people in my above generation have a min of 5 year age gap 7-8 is most common and my parents have a 11 age gap. And most of them in mom side family is like that ... It's getting better with our generation tho, like their generation was so treditional and only arranged marriage is allowed , so an age gap like this was required then
