He used to work/old friends w/Gilsoo before ML entered and started essentially purging the High rankers. He is lieutenant Colonel Lee(?) I believe he snitched Or just switched sides to save his own hide. So this will be like killing 2 birds w/one stone? Or maybe more like a test. Out ML is having Gilsoo's old friend kill him, and Lee will either follow through, prove his loyalty, and get rid of a possible problem for our ML. Or he will faulter, make himself look suspicious and cowardly, and the MC will find someone else. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ hope that helps

Take my virtual "Thumbs Up" for explaining the hell out of that for me. I was so confused. The artist's depictions are wonderful, but I swear due to the obscuring hats and similar clothes (or just because I am dumb), I keep forgetting who is who in this story. So thank you!
Ah at quick glance I was wrong Lieutenant Colonel Lee is the higher ranking Old dude(very distinguishable as he has full gray hair and a hefty beard) who our MC poisoned.
There was two more dudes show along with Gilsoo and they all worked Under Lt. Colonel Lee, one was the dude who originally sent our MC to our ML(Headman Choi) and he got murked bc he was caught in the jail area telling our MC to Kill himself.
Now that Ive gone back again the dude we see now with the order to kill Gilsoo is the Chief Hwang Hoon.
They were introduced in the early chapters like 1-10ch. Hwango Hoo switched sides after lee and choi died between 15ch~20ch.
