Because it kind of make mc look bad for going after someone that like someone who is in his family. Unless, the brother already have a gf, and mc go after ml to heal him. Apparently, they were soulmates. And Ray was the one who tried to bring back our mc's souls to come back for a long time. But they both lost memories. However Ray will regain his memory later on.

This will have been good if mc mission was not to go after his brother friend, bc it is kind of weird to go after someone who you already know having a crush on your own brother. It just sound mess up. It doesn't matter if they're together yet or not.
