i dont think he was lying about not knowing love, he was actively rejected in his household by both his parents the entirety of his youth. but i do think he phrased it in a harsh way as an act of misguided care for the reasons you stated!
I feel like ruediger said the harsh things to Luca cause he knew he would die, and wanted luca to get over his death or something
