Looks like market pressures forcing shounen magazines to appeal themselves to fujoshis directly, hmm. This is BL, this was intended to be BL, with just the explicit markers of BL removed to sneak it into a shonen mag. Found it under shonen and the cover art gave me hope that this will at least not be the OP MC Mary Sue nonsense and will have pretty art, got comfortable with the pandora hearts vibes only to get whiplashed by the sudden sexual tension between MC and the eye-patch guy and the MC suddenly getting proposed to by him. Should have read the comments first, then I would have been mentally prepared for BL, instead of trying and failing to suspend my disbelief at the assumption that this was a shonen.
