IIRC the egg was checked in a prior chapter if it was alive, it was confirmed to have an embryo that just didn't want to hatch.

well my other theories still stand then lol
I was gonna say it needs live to hatch and it’s not getting any from the bird people
but if it’s not a royal egg then that’d kind of make since since they wouldn’t actually care if it was hatched or not
like they just have an orphan egg
it might not even be of their species as well
And then I saw someone say it was unfertilized and that Kouichi and Caius’s intense lovemaking session is about to make a baby which would be pretty interesting to see
I feel like it might be a bird person egg, just not royal and I think it’d be cool for them to adopt it considering my first theory
