It's not really been explained. What I can guess is his dad married his mom just bcs she had the mc. Maybe that's why mc was kinda petty called him his name, although his dad and his mom love each other (check previous chapter, the dad explained it. There's also a scene his mom and his dad watch him on TV together)

So it must be that his parents were in a relationship originally but his dad's parents had forced him into an arranged marriage so he had to leave mc's mom when she was pregnant with MC and was only able to remarry her after divorcing the person he had an arranged marriage with.
