You're absolutely right, you shouldn't keep reading if it triggers you. Everyone has their own level of sensitivity to certain topics and different ways they prefer them being evoked and it's perfectly fine. However, sometimes you just keep reading for inertia
Personally, I prefer this story that blatantly depicts them both as bad and toxic people, compared to other ones that act like normal romcoms and then suddenly romanticise r*pe, dub-consent, stalking, homophobia and other toxic dynamics in the name of redemption arcs, "sexy" scenes, and indecisive traumatized characters
It doesn't trigger me I just find it utterly shit for exact reasons you stated
