Maybe the uncle didn't know too.. He didn't talk with his sister, so how could he know.. At least, that's my guess..
The thing is, why did he react so alarmed when he knew that the father had taken Haejoon with him? It seems like he knew somehow.

The way he talks about the past and the way he acts now, especially a few chapters back when he yelled at the uncle, shows that he never learned, never changed, and he never will. Why did the uncle keep quiet about something so serious? Haejoon could’ve been manipulated and abused. I guess he thought Haejoon was too young to know and the dad might do nothing. Still. But poor mom, I feel so bad for her. I wish I could see her alive, beautiful smiling face again.
