I think ppl aren't pressed because the main characters are not gonna do the nasty lol. It's just the general erasure of the bl tag, which might have something to do about the manga industry's tendency to look down on bl works (and even shoujo romance) even if they're well-written. It's rather a criticism towards the industry rather than the story the way I see it.

Most of the comments are talking about queer baiting and they are upset that there isn’t going to be any romance between “Hikaru” and Yoshiki, they feel cheated, I do agree that the industry does look down on shoujo and BL and that’s just horrible because there really are some very well written ones out there, including this one, I’d categorized this as shounen-ai or just BL though even if they remove the tag because it certainly is based on such relationships.

Oh, wait to clarify when you say romance are you referring to sex? To be honest, when the comments mentioned romance between the two mcs, I interpreted it as the mcs having feelings for each other and how their relationship grows, not the idea of them having sex. Because isn't this manga categorised as shounen ai instead of yaoi so I think most readers get the idea that no explicit scenes will happen here.

Oh I see, I see. Sorry about that, my brain sometimes finds it hard to understand what I'm reading.
I get your point. I can only make assumptions based on what I've observed. So my take on this is maybe the author probably intended this to be really bl but since it is gradually gaining more traction outside the bl space, maybe they were advised to drop the bl tag to pander to the general growing audience.
If this is the case, I'd be really sad. It's already bad enough that so many great bl mangas don't get the attention they deserve for simply having queer themes.

No worries, my post was pretty long and maybe convoluted so I totally understand. It would be sad if that were the case but if Yoshiki actually pursued “Hikaru” romantically I would have probably dropped it because that would have been too much angst for me. That would trivialize what Yoshiki felt for Hikaru and it would treat “Hikaru” as replacement for Hikaru for Yoshino to get over his grief until he comes to love “Hikaru” as “Hikaru” is and I’ve seen that story so many times, I’m tired of it. Yoshiki would become a mega douche in that case.
Geezus why the fuck are you guys so hung up on the BL part of the story, it never even truly revolved around the traditional BL relationship. “Hikaru” isn’t a human being, he doesn’t have an understanding about the concepts of human love, romantic love, or sexual attraction, a relationship between “Hikaru” and Yoshiki wouldn’t exactly be BL. And BL is very much incredibly popular, the author doesn’t have to take out BL from the story to make more money or some shit, it’s very clear Yoshiki loved Hikaru in a romantic way from the first chapter so the author gains nothing from suddenly trying to “to turn it in to a straight manga.” Hikaru is definitely at least bi. What is happening now is just what the story and relationship between what “Hikaru” and Yoshiki calls for, and it’s also about how Yoshiki is grieving Hikaru and his love for him. His love and longing is so deep and all consuming that he would rather be with spectre of Hikaru than live without him completely, that’s pretty fucking gay to me, and let’s not forget that Hikaru would rather be body snatched than leave Yoshiki alone.
Idk why you guys are so pressed, it ain’t BL if they don’t do the nasty or something????????? Chill out, the story is very well written and the mystery is taking center stage right now. I for one am glad Yoshiki isn’t suddenly in love with “Hikaru” just because he looks like Hikaru, and we don’t have to go through the angst many other bls put us through where the story is that Yoshiki first sexually and romantically uses “Hikaru” to replace Hikaru and then suddenly realizes he truly loves “Hikaru” and blah blah blah, I hate that shit, that would just make Hikaru’s presence trivial and forgotten and I would hate that because it would mean Hikaru was used as a plot device to create angst and sexual tension between “ Hikaru” and Yoshiki. In this story Hikaru isn’t forgotten and he is still as important even if he is no longer alive.
