Completely (ish) agree!!!! When I was a teen I thought "wow, she pulled a 20 something yr old in hs" now that I'm a 20 something I'm like "WHY WOULD A 20 SOMETHING BE INTO A HS?!?"
Like u said, a kid having a crush on someone older is (usually) innocent and typical, BUT THAT PERSON LIKING THEM BACK?!?!?! No. Even if he "waits for him" THATS STILL WRONG, it's practically grooming and BEING a pedo!!!!!

Totally agree that actually waiting and liking a child is still wrong and creepy.
When I said “wait” I was thinking it’d be like, the older one thinks it’s a joke or doesn’t take the promise seriously and goes about their own life as normal. Maybe even separating completely since they go off to college and don’t see the kid anymore. Which is what usually happens in other BL where there’s a large age gap.
I wonder if the people who are ok with the relationship are teenagers while the ones who aren’t are adults.
When I was a kid, I thought the relationships in Card Captor Sakura (between the elementary girl and her adult teacher) was “ok” because she was “mature for her age.” I agreed with Ariel when she wanted to give up her tail for land and a man.
When I was a teen, I thought relationships between teensxAdults was ok if the teen was “mature enough.”
In both cases it was always the younger one pursuing which made it feel ok. If it was the other way around it would have felt disgusting….
As an adult, kids and teens will/should never be “mature enough” for an adult relationship. Kids and teens should enjoy their childhood… they only have a few years for it. You’ll spend the last 3/4+ of your life as an adult and it’s so daunting.
To the people who say, “it’s just fiction! Stop ruining this for us!” How is anything being ruined by a comment you don’t have to care about? You don’t have to interact with everything. But also, people can apply critical thinking to the things they read and make commentary about literature. It’s literally what we did in our English classes. It doesn’t mean you like or dislike the story, you just dissect it and think about it. Like “Lolita” or the “Great Gatsby” or poems by Edgar Allen Poe.
Disagreeing with what characters do is normal. Do you think the people who read Killing Stalking agreed with the rape/murder/stalking/kidnapping/leg-breaking? Stating discomfort or dislike for a topic is not a personal attack.
This is a personal attack: To the people who say, “that’s too long I’m not going to read that. But you’re wrong.” It’s no wonder you think this relationship is ok at your age. I did when I was a kid. Hopefully you can apply your experiences and critical thinking when you’re older.

Anyway.
I started reading this thinking it’d be a cute one sided crush and then there’s a time slip where he pursues the older one once he’s 18… I’m going to put this on pause till it’s either done or much further along as I am curious to see how it ends. (Does he go to jail for fucking a minor? or do they time skip because he promises to “wait” or whatever.)
Hell, I had crushes on older teens and adults as a kid. I think we all did and that’s why the kid’s crush is relatable. But we also understand it’s not appropriate on the older teen to reciprocate at this time.
I’m not looking for an argument. I’ll ignore inflammatory responses. Just typing out my thoughts on how a person’s age affects their perception of the things they read. Which is why you see people in the comments who are ok with this story’s development while others are not.
