she clearly also has beef with her dad, specifically bc he's out of the picture perfect family she never had (the only "flaw" in her "perfect plan")

Of course she’d have both daddy AND mommy issues.
Btw that feeling of wanting to be perfect in everything you can (specially academically) because you see your parents with their own burdens is relatable af. And so is the self-hatred when you fail at doing that.
