I feel this honestly. I've always hated tropes like these because the love interest only falls for the MC because they find out the deceased person they liked now inhabits the MC's body and not because they actually like the MC themselves. It's hard to find stories that don't follow this particular plot line...

Exactly! It's so disappointing because we don't get the closure of the original inhabitant of the body. Plus it makes the romance between the Mc and Love Interest feel so shallow because the Love Interest is only showing affection to them because they're the person they loved and not because they came to love them as their own stand-alone persona.

But idk how the ML could treat the MC differently when he’s constantly seeing similarities of the MCs actions in his different bodies. It would be nice to see him refall in love with MC but i feel like if he didn’t realize that it was MC, ML would treat MC like a rebound, constantly reminded of his past love

but that what I want T-T
like I'm not looking for a happy ending here.
like if it gets revealed waaayyyy later that the MC inhabited the body
then thats fine I guess
but I hate when they do it early especially before we even get to know the inhabited body. I love when the ML struggles to love the MC bc he think he is betraying the MC and cant tell if his feelings are real.
but yea super heavy on him refalling in love with MC I would love to see it

rightttt. omg you get me.
like some people would argue that the love would be shallow if ML likes the inhabited body bc it reminds him of og MC. but it feels even worse to me when ML falls for inhabited MC only bc he is og MC.
like give some love to the boy who died T-T I legit feel so bad for him bc he died without ever being loved.
my ideal story would be MC dies and inhabits a new body, he has 3 love interests (ML who never knew both bodies, ML who knew the inhabited body and ML who knew og MC)
and then after a whole lot of pain and drama the inhabited MC would pick the ML who didn't know both the og MC and the inhabited body.
also I would love to see a story where someone loved the inhabited body and then starts to fall out of love when MC inhabits them. Like I wanna see tragedy.
bruh sorry if that was confusing.

No, No, No, I get that and would LOVE to see a premise like that play out 100%. It would be tricky to write, but it's not like it couldn't be done. It would allow the inhabited body to have some spotlight on them since a lot of the time we only hear about the inhabited body usually in the beginning when the MC inhabits them and then after a while, we stop hearing about them altogether (with the occasional memory, if that). It's just depressing that that has to happen.
You're ideal story honestly sounds like something I'd totally read. Because logically speaking the ML who knew neither identities would probably be the most stable out of all of them. Loving the MC for themselves and the new identity they built for themselves and not because of who they used to be (since both of the other love interests love the inhabited body and OG MC).
And a story with the love interest falling out of love with the new person in the inhabited body? Love that. It's not every day you see a story play out like that. Usually, it's a character giving up their feelings willingly to make the MC happy. So having them fall out of love seeing the differences? That's a story I'd definitely see myself reading.
idky im like this. it makes so sense.
but I really didn't want the ML to recognize him.
idk I wanted the mc to live his life as the new guy and not his old self.
and I wanted the ML to fall in love with the mc but like the new version.
I legit don't know why I feel like this but that's what I wanted to happen :(
