I fear thr main character is making very bad decisions because he's under so much pressure and stress. He's keeping the fact that the love interest's father is dead a secret because main character wants to protect him even though that'd not his decisions to make. He's also keeping his father around for no logical reason even though he's garbage and annoys everyone.
I know conflict is a part of a good story and that a story wouldn't be as good without it but I'm getting a sense that this could go very bad if not written out correctly. Instead of providing a driving plot for the story this might annoy readers
