I mean...

good do I ever wish Sunbae wasn't so fuckin' rapey cause otherwise they're so freaking adorable and my heart is currently in a puddle on my floor, but all the “no”s just kill it so much for me. What's with Asian romance and this obsession with “no, stop, wait” being akin to “yes, keep going, don't stop”? It's so absolutely backwards with North America heading gung-ho into consent culture, that it has me worried our youth will get even worse mixed messages than people like me, born in the 80s, did through romantic Disnificaton. This is especially scary with just how many people now immerse themselves in Asian cartoon media compared to when I was young. When I first started reading manga you couldn't get them in regular book stores. I know I'm old. But now that it's so much more pervasive, this worries me.

So although I really want to just ignore the rape and non/dubcon because let's be honest, no one is being hurt in the comic cause they're not real, I worry that some people will be confused by how the sweet moments make them feel and thing rape is part of it. I wouldn't care so much but falling in love with this kind of romance (saying no when you mean yes cause I was shy and thought I needed to be pushed into anything even remotely sexual) I was convinced that the abuse I went through was love. I was in no less than 6 abusive romantic relationships, all of which I had to wait until the last of them to even realize what they did was rape. That is NOT ok and I don't want other young people to go through that. It wasn't until going to court for custody of my child before I realized I was abused and manipulated into having sex without condoms in the first place. Don't get me wrong, my child is my entire world and the bio dad is not in the picture, but I should never have been brainwashed into falling for his manipulation in the first place.

So, I personally enjoy this story, I just wish there wasn't so much goddamn rape in these.

*I should add, If this makes you happy, I'm not judging. I just wish it would be clear that people shouldn't treat eachother like this unless Stef upon before hand.

Fiction knows no bounds, often delving into realms and ideas deemed unacceptable or taboo in reality. So, if this webtoon's storyline and themes clash with your convictions and boundaries, do us all a favour and exit stage left, morality in tow. If you've plunged a dozen chapters deep despite claiming discomfort, spare me the charade. Nothing grates on my nerves more than hypocrites griping about moral qualms while bingeing on the material they allegedly despise. Seriously, pick a lane and stick with it. (︶︿︶)=凸

You missed my point entirely and gatekeeper is an ugly look on anyone. I realize I took it out on this story a little unfairly but my problem isn't with this story, it's the fact that rape is nearly expected in yaoi as a whole because there is a notion that for some reason pretending you don't want to have sex when you do, is sexy. It seems mixed messages. Not to mention that we don't always get warnings ahead of time. I like this story so I'm going to keep reading it. I can handle the rape, hell I've written worse myself. Like I said, my problem isn't that there is tape in this story, my problem is that rape isn't taken seriously in the entire romance category as a whole in all hentai related manga and anime (different spelling for different localization implied). I was just going off on a rant about it here because this story in particular is rife with it. There is no reason at all for this story to have rape. It's not about someone being raped, it's about someone exploring new kinds of relationships and falling in love with a new person.

Non-con has been a problem in Asian romance fiction specifically, I'm guessing it's because of the fixation on modesty that many Asian cultures grasp to, but it's confusing to young people. It's purity culture at its well, purest, and purity culture has and will always breed confusion and unhealthy romance and sexuality in relationships. I was just pointing it out. I also made sure to say that I'm not judging anyone who is into that. Just that if unknowledgeable about the potential harm, reading story after story where saying no when meaning yes it's the norm, people could end up getting harmed themselves.

true that noncon is unneeded and overly used in Korean bl, you're not the only one who notices, (not saying this in a rude way I actually find the nc kink really annoying too) but it's mangago and comment sections are for comments on the manga/manhwa/manhua etc, not for rants (again I'm not saying this in a disrespectful way, just syating facts) (and that message i posted is one of the many copy pastas floating around mangago)
