Now that the series has almost come to an end and only a few side stories are left, I wanna talk about it, like how I feel about the story and how I feel about some opinions of other people on this story.
The story overall, I liked it. I've been reading this one since 2021 so probably it's more about emotional attachment for me? Idk. But I loved it.
I loved the fl, she was a villainess in her 1st life that's why ended up being executed, realised her mistakes and so pursued medical career in her second life so she could save people. Got reincarnated or time traveled to her first life where she was the villainess but this time she was gonna do everything right. She still had her trauma from her first life (as the ml executed her) but the trauma wasn't shown that much. I saw many people addressing the fact that she wasn't enough traumatised. I mean not everyone copes with their problems the same way. She did get executed by the ml and she was obv scared of him but it wasn't to such an extent I think. Because when she was dying she realised what she had done and reflected upon her life thinking she should've lived better. There wasn't many thoughts about the ml in her mind that moment to begin with. But yeah she was scared of him and that's why she wanted to end their engagement too.
Now talking about the ml. I've seen SO MANY people saying how much of a jerk he is. Mainly because he never gave any attention to the fl in their first life and executed her. But I'm afraid I don't feel the same way. I mean yes he's cold, most manhwa men are, this ain't something new. But him not showing any affection for the fl wasn't unusual to me. Because think about it from his perspective. The marriage was entirely an political marriage. That's not the issue tho. He never liked the fl since before their engagement, her reputation was bad too. But the issue isn't this either. He was kind of forced into the marriage. She fell for him, became completely obsessed with him, told her father, the elders decided the engagement. It was a complete political marriage where his consent didn't even matter. That's how they got married. So naturally it'd look abnormal to me if he ended up falling for her in this situation. Imagine this in reversed gender roles. Doesn't seem that nice, does it? That's why he was simply indifferent towards her. She was pitiful for sure but if I were in the place of the ml, I wouldn't be able to love her either, for the circumstances. And he executed her because he's the emperor. And if they're proven guilty, the emperor obv had to sentence her, he'd have to do that even if he loved her. That's a national duty, personal feelings wouldn't even matter there.
And I loved the fact that the ml didn't suddenly fall in love with her because "she was interesting or not like other girls". He fell for her seeing her skills, kindness, boldness, confidence and obviously competence. She also didn't suddenly fell for the ml despite the traumas. She fell for the blonde dude (who was technically the ml but she didn't know) because he was nice warm etc. She fell for him gradually. And later got to know that he's the ml.
So to me it was actually perfect. They fit each other perfectly. He was obviously in love with her but still never made any decision solely to support her during the war. He helped her after seeing potential in her ideas, set consequence if she fails. That was admirable when he's supposed to be the next Emperor. Love is important but I hate it when mls makes decisions solely based on their personal feelings when thousands of lives are on the line. She was smart but she's super dumb in the recent side stories idk why-
Lastly Mikhail. I can't put it in words how much I love this guy. He was there for her as her best friend in their first life. He was there for her in her 3rd life too. He's always been there. I love him so much. He suffered way too much man my boy didn't deserve those. He never wanted to go against or kill his brother. But the circumstances were too cruel to him. Keeping his mother's word would be hurting his brother who he loves and vice versa. He was just stuck in between, hurting. I hope he finds love and has his own VERY VERY VERY HAPPY ENDING.
