Well for me, I was originally just reading shounen and shoujo. Naruto Shippuden was mostly my go-to back then but then I need more of an escape thats when I encountered BL. And then webtoon came out, and trends starts shifting and the competition was so saturated that lately it turn into which is the most beautiful or badass artstyle. So to speak, I became a multi-fan of every fiction that's good. From what I observed, BL fans were originally fans of straight comics until there imagination goes wack and started shipping in the vast open sea and most of them couldn't extract themselves away from it. And just saying, there's actually more good BL now compared to the highly dubious BL's back then.
And I agree with you, it really is more fun to read action comics in general these days but as for me making me sob? NOTHING BEATS LIGHT NOVELS! (^∇^)ノ♪
OH I AGREE!!! I have become a fan of whatever catches my attention and has great plot and good characters. I do think a lot of BL has come a long way, which is why it's kinda in a 50-50 limbo of if the plot is good or not... But at the same time, recently (by recently I mean within the last 6-ish months) I've seen more half-assed plots that don't make sense than ever before, but have decent/pretty art which is pretty much what you said about webtoons (and why I haven't been on there for a few years). But I just made the comment above bc I've seen so many BL fans lately, when I hadn't a few years ago LMAO

I know I just commented but I want to make a quick comment about a realization I had: So many BL fans have been enjoying martial arts comics as of late. Even if the MC's and other characters are good looking in comics before, it wasn't like it is now. I think bc of the type of BL that's been pushed out (either really good or really mid) it's made a lot of BL fans spread out to even more genres than before. I also think martial arts comics have gotten both funnier and more fun to read in general, and the plots can make you sob or laugh with them.
