Just reread chapter 47 and I realized that Jay changed his gloves before dealing with Eris! As in, he refuses to let her touch that which the princess has touched! Then throwing away the gloves to show that he considers Eris to be nothing but garbage (which in a way, she is). Love the symbolism as well in showing his transition from doing things in the light, to that of the dark. Beautiful subtle details there
