What would happen if they they were to meet under different or should I say a more normal circumstance? Would they still fall in love with each other, losing all their rationality? Would she be a priviledged noble lady with no physical and emotional scars? Would she still beleive in love and crave warm hugs like she did when she was little? Would he not be an emotionally scarred war hero who saw his comrades die in front of him and be territory managing noble who grew up with love instead? Would they meet at some ball and fall in love at first sight? Would they go on dates wearing fancy outfits, book the entire restaurant and watch a play before going back home like every other couple? Would her first experience in love be all rainbows and sunshines and not any pedophile, gambling, abusive trash husband?
Would she not have to kill anyone and become an infamous convict? Would he not find comfort in a runaway convict? Was it ever an option? I guess not. Still after all the inhumane tortures, emotional scars, psychological warfare and so many hardships, they managed to come together. As if it was always meant to be, as if they were always meant to be. Lovely, isn't it? But at least they've overcome it all now, leaving everything behind. All the past sins, burdens and things that'd hold them back.

He let her go because that's what she'd been living for all this time. She came back for him because by then she knew the shackles were long undone and it wouldn't hurt to listen to her feelings and give in to them anymore. She had loved him, the great source of her comfort when there was no ray of hope in her life. Those flyers with his pictures, his voice on those radio broadcasts saying everything will be fine, the war will be over, he'll rescue them all. These became the only things she looked forward to in her miserable life. And he had loved her, the only source of his comfort as he kept wishing for her successful escape because he was unable to do so. The sole survivor from the place he couldn't protect, he wanted her to survive till the end. Rosen Walker's existence itself gave him the sense of freedom. Or was it a shameful hope?

A war hero and an infamous convict. Such vast difference. Still somehow both of them became the only ray of hope in each other's lives, the only person they emotionally relied on amidst everything, unknowingly. Rosen wanted to leave because staying behind for Ian would be sacrificing herself, she wouldn't want that. Ian wanted to be with her but at the same time wanted her to leave. Because holding her back would be throwing away all her efforts to survive in a blink. That'd be sacrificing both of them. He didn't want that. And thus, he helped her flee, from the hell she'd created for herself because if she hadn't, that horrible man would continue to make her life even more miserable. Would things be different if Ian had met her before that man? We'll never know.

And now, she's free. From the shackles, from the rules, from the unfair judgement of people who couldn't care less about her, from the tiresome life.

Rosen had promised Ian to tell him the truths only if they were to meet again. Because even if Ian wanted her lies to be eternal, she knew she had to at least tell HIM the truth the moment she saw his face before escaping the ship. The warmth she felt in his embrace was very unfamiliar to her but she did not hate it in the slightest. She wanted more of it, but she had to survive first. She set off for her long awaited destination, leaving the warmth behind as it was her sole path of survival. Not long after, he also set off for a different island, leaving everything behind. Because now if Ian Connor were asked what everything meant to him, he'd certainly answer "Rosen Walker" as She'd become everything to him. Many thought it was the fall of the war hero but truth be told, the war hero had finally landed. He didn't follow her to where she was because she didn't want that. Instead he waited, he had hopes, his hopes were once again Rosen. Rosen finally came as she'd missed him as well. They were finally away from all the judgement of people, there were no more shackles binding them, no more pain and sufferings. Only happiness lied in front of them. They had their own beautiful happy ending with the rings both Rosen and Ian prepared. They will now be happy as nothing else will be holding them back from each other anymore. They will now spend the rest of their lives being each other's comfort and staying in each other's warm embrace.

But even after all of this, I cannot help but wonder what would happen if on the day she killed her husband, it was Ian Connor standing outside the doors instead of those soldiers when she seeked help?
