I mean, he's addicted to gambling, his perception was corrupted by it, and now he was given risky option to help the gangsters for his gain. That's another gamble, so he has to take or else he might "miss out on the jackpot". That's how I imagine his mind is working rn, for him it must make a lot of sense.
