I only read spoilers from other people so this might not be too accurate but Basically when he goes to war is when she escapes with Doha and Doha kind of manipulates her into thinking that the Duke will kill her once he finds her, and even when she finds out that the Duke isn't killing her, Doha sets up a carriage fire? where the Duke thought she died in There's more things he does but I don't think I have accurate info since it's from mtl
