Some people don't mind or sometimes they just want them to feel despair in some way because Leon's been rejecting him etc- a lot of other bl I've read been playing with similar tropes. It plays a lot into deteriorating their mental too. You know when ur not good mentally you will be more easy to manipulate. He is portrayed as a villain so it fits
