You’re probably just connecting it with The summer Hikaru died, I also thought about that manga when they were entering the fence. :D
But otherwise I feel like it’s just sumbolic of their dynamic, Shii being able to talk Tamaki into doing things he’s scared to do.
Is that fence hole thingie they crossed in their childhood just used as a metaphor or did something really changed when they crossed it. That fence has been used a lot as reference in here.
If this manga was supernatural I think it would be a story where the guy rn is actually tamakis doppelganger or smthg. It was said that tamaki didn't used to smile before in kindergarten so what if he did change after the fence thing.
Anyway that's just me letting my imagination run wild XD
