Considering the tone of the story, here’s what’s likely to happen if he dies: Ian goes on a killing spree for revenge, then falls back on his pill addiction. And that’s if he doesn’t get caught and gets put back in jail. And yes, I have a reason to back up this belief:
- the way he reacted to TJ having been in an accident. Wanting to kill people over it.
- How he gave up on running away after TJ’s accident, to the point where TJ had to be the one to walk away without telling him anything.
- how he went to a gang funeral even though he walked away from the gang
- flashback of TJ panicking because every time his back was turned, Ian was abusing pills to the point where he could overdose like his mother at anytime
So basically, rooting for TJ’s death at this point of the story is no different than rooting for a bad ending. To each their own, I guess. Some people like tragedies, nothing wrong with that.
If it's indicating he will die then he will not. I think it's Jo because he's the least expected. Also not forgetting that Jo is the Orion. I rather see Jo dying than not being the endgame because that'd be unfair for his character.
