This mindset is very common in abusers or watchers. They just expect the abused to forgive them once they have changed. It's such an insane narrative especially if your a minor and they provide for you so of course you have to pacify them and smile and pretend cause what else can you do?
Ngl I kinda was hoping for some kind of closure or forgiveness from the parents side, but just telling your kid that you've been physically and emotionally abusing for years to just forget everything... bruh
