We obviously haven’t seen the past dad, and Woo is still remembers the dad he used to love and still probably does in some way. It’s hard to let go.
Similar thing with abusive exes. I had an ex that was wonderful to me for months and then towards the end of the relationship I was hanging on to the memory of the good days rather than acknowledging the person he was becoming.
Honestly the author really cooked by showing us his father through his memories cause tell me why there's a part of me that still recalls those panels where his dad actually seemed like a good dad. Even if they were vague
It's easier to hate a character that has been only shown in a bad light, but Wonwoo still remembers the dad he used to be and that's something that makes it feel a little more real with how easily Wonwoo gives into his dad's wants earlier in the series.
