Because after their first encounter everything changes and he knows for a fact that he has to tread their relationship carefully. This will be explained in later chapters
why couldn't the ml explain the dom/sub dynamics to mc... seriously adding that to the story could've made this less aggravating. hopefully they'll communicate better soon
