Ummm I do empathize with characters who've been through a lot and/or have a mental condition even if they're not a very good person. Because being bipolar myself, I've made a lot of mistakes that I can never take back.
Of course I'm not talking about Sangwoo or Jaekyung kinda guy lol
Just the ones that are mildly assholes with a pathetic personality
For example Han Sekye from "the world without you" or Jenny from "love history caused by willful negligence"
I don't favor generally when it comes to GL and BL. But if I love one character more than other I may favor. Like Mo Guanshan from 19 Days or Anthy from Shoujo Kakumei Utena. But when it comes to SL I favor women more than men.
Also if you read BL novels I recommend Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know , it is Gong(Seme) pov
I don't know why, I just like uke's better. Whenever I read something with seme's pov, I always discontinue, lol
