The younger brother assumed that the influence of the hypnosis was still in affect even after saying the key word. He only later found out that the older brother was pretending to be under the influence.
I don't think the older brother was pretending, he was just genuinely extremely confused and is trying to convince himself that the hypnosis him is the real him to cope with the situation
