This history was somehow light, i think of Mine as the representation of the "automatic" part of living, life just keep going like always despite of what happened to ourselves or others around us but when somethign actually touch us and were troubled inside we tend to try to not think about it.
Maybe thats why people are confused? Because the only emotion that we can see clearly is that Mine was heartbroken before Megumi's death... Back then he was saved by the MONEY of Megumi so he was able to continuing living, so now he thinks of money earned by prostitution as the "love" that saved him, eventhough is kinda selfdestructive.
