Im pretty sure the emperor is female. It looks like they were royalty that married the dukes son, which is why it was said the consort (Imperial princes father) gave up his title/inheritance to marry.
The translators havent been keeping it consistant so i wonder if the Korean title emperor is traditionally male. Her uniform doesnt help either.
I'm so confused is the emperor a man or a woman?? When they're referring to the emperor they use "his" "him" but the black haired prince called them "mother"???
