i mean, homophobia is a very real thing. the same question can be asked to real people - why talk about gay people just to bully them?

Hm, tbh I feel there's not enough homophobia depictions compared to when I first started reading the genre, but it also kinda reflects how people view it nowadays.

On 8th I still remember the utter scorn my classmates had for anything queer related, but flashforward to 9th/10th grade, suddenly some girls were bi/pan? (I'm not doubting them on bad faith but... they were problematic on many other aspects) and the guys were overall (although none came out of the closet) more chill or dare not be homophobic out loud.

I see internet people commenting as if homophobia is something of decades ago, or take for granted that it shouldn't be strong nowadays thanks to how open the discussion has become. I guess there's where the gap for authors when writing stories, some are like AUs where queer is completely open an accepted, and others have homophobia as one of the core (or side) conflicts of the story. Some still have very present that scorn and can't believe it lessened (like me) while others hold a more idealistic/optimistic view. Tbh, I like both approaches, eat sweet dessert after bitter coffee.

Yes in real life either need to ask that question. And I know I know, that phobia is real but some don’t even have phobia still do sh*t. Do they need to bring about g@y s*it every times they see two boys or two girls? when not everyone is g@y, there are bi or tran many more names…. and serious question is why do they bring about other sexualities in the first place even tho they also hung out with their friends in same gender or opposite? it looks more like they are bullying others just to prove they are st8? I rly rly don’t understand them

Funny enough, they think of gay, lesbian or trans as slurs because they view them as bad people (there's also that need to "be better than you" that they try to nitpick where there's no issue). It is indeed an unwarranted form of bullying to straight friendships, but acknowledging being insulted over those words isn't good neither.

I usually just say "so what if I am?", even if I'm actually straight and cis. What's their business trying to offend people? Don't give them the satisfaction. The more embarrassed you look, the better they feel.

And yeah, gender and sexuality is hard to define by sight, asking the related person is the best course of action, since there's still a lot of ignorance and hard to define terms (since many things are a spectrum), many things are simplified as "gay". Unless you plan on getting involved with them, getting to know each other takes a lot of time.

Idk how we ended up here since the rumor is about them being 2 "carnivores" together rather than 2 boys, so although very similar, the worldbuilding around the carnivore, omnivore and herbivore may have other factors to take into account.

Oh … no no I’m not talking about this manga , I’m talking about all in surveys. Btw Eng is not my first language so in my way of talking, there will some important part missings but I understand what you’re saying and I accept. I didn’t got the noti of your first Cmt, that’s why I didn’t reply you. My purposes of the Cmt is I really don’t understand what they’re thinking when they called “g@y” to other (<—some might be but some might not). That’s why if someone knows, I want them to explain it to me like you’re doing now.
