Ik everyone is like oh poor mai, but like if you think about it, they're both obsessed with each other, its just that mai is in more of a "normal" way, and its not like mai is worried about the victims, she worries about the crimes her beloved brother is going to commit because its illegal, she mentions in earlier chapters that someones hobbies (murdering) is restricted because its against the law.

But it is true that the reason she started doing this is because she didn't want to die, and i doubt she wants to die now, its just that now she also realized she loves makoto. I don't think mai has realized that the accident changed the timelines, instead of the cat dying making this the first live death makoto witnesses, mai gets hit, someone who is an always in his life, one where he acknowledges as a person. Which for the first time makes him feel something other than adrenaline.

I love this manga so much because of how complex and psychological it is so mb if it's scrambled
