This makes me think if you’re capable of moving on so fast maybe you didn’t actually really genuinely like them. It’s like the whole I liked them cause they were nice. But then again continuing to like someone who doesn’t like you isn’t really the way to go either. I feel like this a topic with many perspectives and could go on but imma leave it here

Actually it can be deeper than that.
There can be a difference between love, respect, attachment and dependence.
Had he accepted his confession, they might have made a great couple. With mutual commitment. But he got rejected and accepted reality, and why shouldn’t he? The most clear minded people can do that.
People who get dependent on their feelings for others have a hard time dealing with the changed reality.
I’d just give Atami kun a back pat. He’s gonna be just fine.

Atami kun might be a sweet boy who admires people and opens his heart to them, but he got the first rejection of his life and he still respects the other person.
It’s a really open way of feeling and responding to life. Not a fixed mindset. Because when we fixate, somewhere inside we’re trying to fill a hole.
Atami might just be more capable of feeling admiration and smiling at someone. Without needing them to fill a hole in his heart.
