no but he is like those alphas he despises. he acts like a saint of a friend but has underlying intentions (spoiler: he acts on his jealousy later on). the mc and him have showed zero romantic interest to each other yet he sticks around and suddenly starts being super touchy acting as mr nice guy trafficking wherever the mc goes and who he sees because he’s “not okay with it”. i agree with you, i feel that he’s trying to be better than he was as a kid and is trying to be protective but atp he’s borderline capitalizing on the mcs trust by acting over protective. he thinks he’s doing what’s best but, in reality, he’s just being controlling. if he really wanted the mc he should have said so from the beginning.
