ok honestly? true. like at least qiyu is just stupid and liqing still has his adoptive parents. xuanxiao left shen yu's mom to die. there's no coming back from that and i think they kind of swept it under the rug during his redemption arc...

This reminded me of the scene with his mom (which made me go back and read and BAWL again) and GAH I forgot that
a.) xuanxiao tried drugging shen yu to make him confess that he conspired with the previous emperor,
b.) MARRIED ANOTHER CONCUBINE (who shen yu replaced in the 1st place) to try and make shen yu jealous (which BACKFIRED lmao) and
c.) indirectly caused the death of his dad and traumatized him into never speaking!
and those are just the crimes that i FORGOT lmao. So yeah. Like father, like son. In that they never really learn anything and just randomly get the happy ending LMAO. idk why im still here i could literally be reading something more emotionally intelligent.... i just love shen yu and liqing too much to drop lol.
