I think they’re gonna explain in the side stories. I have the official postcard art that comes with an acrylic stand and it shows the ending scene of them falling in the water and after they get out and are safe for sure and they go home and bathe together. They did not die in the end. These side stories are canonly what is happening in between him forgetting up to when he falls into the water. So I think these happen before the last chapters of the story if I’m understand right. Correct me if I’m wrong though!! This is my understanding :)
