MC knew that the bully wouldn't be to high up the ranking, he probably aimed for middle of the pack, but got more than he wanted with his tests.
And after the ranking got public, it was maybe easier to roll with it and use the attention for his benefits - he got money from daddy, is a plus in my perspective
